27th July 2008
Sunday 27th July - Bill had his first double as a trainer in back to back races at Ponterfract on Sunday. Bel Cantor made all under Kelly Harrison to win the 6f Class 3 Skybet sponsored sprint having won the same race last year. Then in the next race on the card Eton Fable also made all from the widest draw to win the 1m maiden under Jamie Moriarty. Bel Cantor won at 14/1 and Eton Fable won at 14/1. A great day and a great effort from all the team at the yard.
18th April 2008
My Kaiser Chief wins Thirsk 6f Maiden by 2 lengths. MKC was held up and after struggling to find a gap he came through to win by 2 lengths under Andrew Mullen. This was the first winner for the recently formed Camela Racing Ltd and we look forward to more in the future. Guto finished 2nd in the prior race on the card which was a 5f handicap.
8th February 2008
Guto wins at Southwell to give us our 2nd winner within 24 hours and a great start to the year. He was ridden by Kelly Harrison and made all over 5f.
This confirms we have started 2008 the way we finished 2007. As of today from our last 20 runners we have had four winners, two 2nds and two 3rds.
7th February 2008
Bel Cantor follows up on his 2nd 10 days ago by going one better and winning the 6f Apprentice Handicap at Wolverhampton under Kelly Harrison. He made all to win by a length.
Having gone close on the All Weather a number of times we are so pleased he finally got the win to go with his five turf victorys so far.
5th Feb 2008
Style Award wins at The Class 4 5f Lingfield under Richard Hughes. This tough filly ran her first race on an All Weather surface and after a 4 month Winter break but she won impressively by 3 lenghths. This takes her tally to 4 wins from 13 runs and she has only been out of the first 4 once. This also continues the yards run of winners and we are looking forward to the start of the Turf Season.

WELCOME TO bill ratcliffe racing
We moved to Hamilton Road, Newmarket on 1st April 2009.The move to Heyward Place has given us the best opportunity to get each horse to achieve its potential. The early signs are promising with our first runner being a winner and we have had four winners in the first month. The facilities are excellent with a beautiful secure private yard accessed via electric gates and covered by CCTV.
We have modern spacious boxes, turnout paddocks, covered horsewalker, washdown room with solarium, starting stalls on site and of course direct access to the best gallops in the country.
We have more boxes available and are looking to expand our team of horses.
We run a friendly professional yard which is focused on both results and enjoyment and our staff are experienced and focused on achieving the best for the owners.
We are ambitious and have set tougher targets for this year and we would welcome any prospective new owners to contact Bill to discuss or arrange a tour of the yard and facilities.

The Year so far.....
Looking back over the year so far we have to be very pleased, as Gutos win at Southwell on 4th November was our 10th of the year and hopefully we can add to that tally before New Year. The season started well with Style Award landing her 4th win when she won by 5 lengths under Richard Hughes at Lingfield. In March Bel Cantor went on to win at Wolverhampton with Guto winning the following day at Southwell, both well ridden by Kelly Harrison. My Kaiser Chief then landed our first turf win of the season in April at Thirsk and then narrowly failed to follow up over course and distance a week later when he was 2nd after hanging across the track in the finish.
July yielded our first double when Bel Cantor and Eton Fable won at Pontefract. After winning the Class 3 - 6f Sky Bet Handcap for the second year in succession Bel Cantor then went on to finish 2nd to Ayr Gold Cup favourite Valery Borzov in the Class 2 Betfred Sprint at Haydock under the promising apprentice Andrea Atzeni. Bel then went on to score our best career success to date when he easily won the Class 2 Ripon Cathedral City of the Dales Handicap in late August. He then went on to be placed 4th in the Ayr Silver Cup after interupted preparations due to another spell of the continued flooding problems we have had to endure on site at Bolton Hall.
After the double at Pontefract, Eton Fable went on to nearly fulfill one of my childhood ambitions when he was touched off in a photo at Chester after attempting to make all.
That was my best and worst day rolled into one as being born in Chester and having spent many a day racing there as a child with my father it has always been a dream to have a winner there, we will have to do that in 2009. Our prizemoney for the year has taken us over £125k to date and around 40% of our runners have finished in the first 4 which for a small but growing yard is very healthy.

Winning connections after Etons Fables win at Pontefract

My Kaiser Chief winning at Thirsk
During the year we have forged a good partnership with apprentice Kelly Harrison who has put work in with the horses at home and ridden many winners for us. The team at home have worked well under testing conditions and without the on site problems at Bolton Hall we would have achieved so much more. We would also like to thank our owners for thier continued support this year and we have been lucky to welcome some new owners to our team.
